Children drawings exhibition in the Russian Railway Museum

On January 24, 2020 the "My Railway" children drawings exhibition was opened in a new building of the Russian Railway Museum. First exhibition in 2020 presents 16 best artworks by winners and awardees of the contest for children from St. Petersburg schools and pupils from the Malaya October railway. There were 27 artworks in total. Best drawings were chosen by a jury of representatives of October railway and the Russian Railway Museum, teachers from Moskovsky and Kolpinsky districts of St. Petersburg. Criteria were: correspondence with contest theme, originality of an idea, technique and quality of drawing.

Young artists show in their drawings flying forward passenger and high-speed trains, scenes of travelers’ life, stations, depots and landscapes one can see from a car window.

First place in a category Pupils from St. Petersburg schools of 5-7 forms got Ivan Varava, a 6-form pupil from school 604 of Pushkinsky district. His work opens the exhibition. Work by Sofia Sergienkova from school 217 of Krasnoselsky district was recognized best between those of pupils of 8-10 forms. Student of 5 year, 3rd session Pavel Poslanchik took the first place in the category Young railwaymen of the Malaya October railway.

Exhibition opening was preceded by solemn award ceremony for the contest winners on the New Years’ eve in the Russian Railway Museum. The ceremony was attended by young artists, their parents, managers of the October railway, school teachers.

Children drawings’ contests on different themes are performed due to Vocational Activity Development Concept for JSC RZD. Thanks to such artistic contests children can learn more on railway activities, rail professions, history and tradition of Russian steel trunks
