Children’s Days in St. Petersburg Festival is in the Russian Railway Museum

On October 27 the XIV Children’s Days in St. Petersburg festival will start in the Museum. This year the Museum will be a participant of the parallel program. We invite teenagers of 11-13 years old with their parents to the I am a Loco Driver role guided tour. On October 30, 1837 at 12.30 pm first train went from St. Petersburg to Tsarskoe Selo. Since that one of the main railway professions is a locomotive driver.

To try this role one can during entertaining museum tour. Tour participants will live one day of locomotive crew; will learn the arrangement of the steam, diesel and electric locomotive and the difference between them. They will find a cat on the locomotive; will learn what football players and loco drivers have in common and why driver resembles an artist. They will follow the evolution of train operations from first “steam stagecoach” to high-speed Sapsan train. The participants will pass special tests to be allowed to drive a locomotive, they should prove themselves and accomplish tasks in the museum exhibition halls to gain prize scores and finally win a chance to travel in the driver’s cockpit on the ТЭП-70 БС Loco Driver Simulator
