The Russian Railway Museum is opening two exhibitions in West Africa
On Monday, October 19, 2026, a photo exhibition by the Russian Railway Museum opened at the UniPod technology hub in the capital of Togo.
The project introduces viewers to how railways shape the country’s character, uniting its vast expanses into a single network. The photographs show that railways have long been an integral part of the familiar landscape.
The project is scheduled to continue on October 26, 2026, at the library of the University of Lomé. The second part of the exhibition will explore the “railway” theme in Russian literature. Visitors will see how Anton Chekhov, Vsevolod Garshin, Ivan Bunin and other writers and poets described trains, train stations and the very atmosphere of railway travel.
"We are pleased with this cooperation and plan to develop it further. Telling about the history of the country through the history of the railway industry allows you to get away from stereotypes and sincerely interest the audience in the culture of Russia," said Dmitry Golovkin, director of the Russian Railway Museum.
