Russian Railway Museum – winner of Russian Contest of exhibitions dedicated to the Great Patriotic War

Russian Railway Museum is a winner of Russian Contest among the industrial museums of the best exhibition dedicated to military and labor feat of soviet people during the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945. Announcement of the winners took place today on February 26 by the video.

The studio of the Russian Railway Museum was attended by Vladimir Odintsov, Director of the Russian Railway Museum, Pavel Markov, Chairman of the Council of Veterans of the Oktyabrskaya Railway, and Isai Kuzinets, Deputy Chairman of the Council of the St. Petersburg Public Organization of Veterans (Pensioners, Disabled People) of War, Labor, the Armed Forces and Law Enforcement agencies.

According to the organizers of the contest, the exhibition in the Russian Railway Museum "Trains of Mercy" is one of the best.

In the year of the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory, the museum visitors were presented with the exhibition project "Trains of Mercy", which consisted of 3 parts.

On February 7, 2020, a pilot exhibition dedicated to military-sanitary trains opened in the four-axle suburban car Ok 3906. The project continued in the spring, when on May 9, 2020, the exhibition "Trains of Mercy" was presented, covering the history of military ambulance trains from the 1870s to the present time. Finally, on October 1, the restored pharmacy-dressing room of the military-sanitary train was opened. In the car you can see the authentic objects and furnishings of the time. The Military Medical Museum of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation provided invaluable assistance in the preparation of the project, providing a number of medical exhibits for the exhibition "Trains of Mercy".

"We remember with gratitude the feat of doctors, nurses and, of course, railway workers who provided evacuation of sick and wounded soldiers during the war. It is important to remember their feat and pass the memory of it to new generations," says Vladimir Odintsov, Director of the Russian Railway Museum.

The contest is held by the Victory Museum within the framework of the International Project "Victory Territory" with the Moscow City Council of Veterans and the support of the Russian Information Agency "Victory of the Russian Federation".

In accordance with the Regulations on the contest, 3 winners were determined, 22 laureates of the competition and 14 participants were recognized as laureates in special categories.
