A new exhibit has appeared in the Russian Railway Museum – a plough snowplow of the TSUMZ system.

A new exhibit has appeared in the open–air exposition of the Russian Railway Museum - a two-track non-self-propelled plough snowplow of the TSUMZ system.

Such a snowplow was located in front of the locomotive. While working, he used a knife and wings to move the snow from the tracks to the sides. The main difference between the TSUMZ plough snowplow and earlier non–self-propelled plough snowplows of the Bjork, Burkovsky, and Riga systems is pneumatic control, which facilitates maintenance. Plough snowplows of the TSUMZ system were built in different versions: wide- and narrow-gauge, for single-track and double-track sections. The museum shopping mall is double–track, meaning it shifts snow only in one direction – to the left as it moves. He could clear snow up to 1 m high and 5.1 m wide with his wings open.

Preserved by the Museum of Railways of Russia, the TSUMZ double-track plough snowplow was built at the Machine-Building Plant of the USSR Ministry of Railways (Tula) in 1951.
