/ 2

Since July 11, 2026, the cabin of the trophy TE-6769 steam locomotive is available at the Russian Railway Museum.

Instruments and other missing parts were installed in the cabin, the locomotive tools were laid and the lighting was equipped. Visitors can look into the cabin window from a special ladder.

This steam locomotive was built at the Floridsdorf factory in Austria in 1943. TE is the Soviet name of the German 52 series steam locomotives, which means "Trophy with characteristics similar to the E series steam locomotives." They were developed during the Second World War in Germany on the basis of a steam locomotive of the 50 series of German railways, the design of which was simplified as much as possible. In the USSR, these locomotives arrived as trophies and for reparations supplies under the German 52 series. In the early 1950s, the 52 steam locomotives received the domestic TE series. Later, as a result of modernizations carried out in the USSR, the characteristics of these locomotives were improved.

"We have restored the cabin of the TE-6769 steam locomotive – "Frau", as the Soviet railwaymen called them. Looking into the cabin, visitors will see what the workplace of the locomotive crew looked like more than half a century ago. The museum's restorers paid special attention to the details that allow you to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the hard work of steam locomotives. We are sure that this event will interest enthusiasts of antique machinery, as well as delight all our guests," said Dmitry Golovkin, Director of the Russian Railway Museum.
